If you're visiting from out of town or have newly relocated to the area, and wish to approach the Holy Chalice -- contact the parish priest ahead of time. It's both a courtesy and the protocol. Introduce yourself. Let him know:
- the parish you attend(ed) and the jurisdiction;
- your priest's name;
- others who may be traveling with you;
- if you're properly prepared to receive Holy Communion, i.e.,
- in good standing with the Church,
- fast regularly under the guidance of your father confessor,
- have gone to the sacrament of Confession recently,
- have observed a Eucharistic fast,
- have a blessing from your parish priest to approach the Chalice.
Then, please arrive for the Liturgy on time. Please stay afterwards, if you can, for a bite to eat and some fellowship. We love having visitors dropping by.
